How we make money

The arrangement

Comparison Experts is free to use and carries no advertising. The sites we link to are owned by the same group, and those sites are paid by suppliers for the enquiries they generate. When you request a quote through one of them, matched suppliers pay for that introduction, whether or not you go on to buy.

You never pay us anything, and the price you are quoted by a supplier is not increased because you came through us.

What that means for our guidance

The honest reading is that we have a commercial interest in you requesting a quote. So the useful question is what we do when that interest conflicts with telling you something true.

Our position is to publish the true thing. Our hearing aids page opens by telling you the NHS provides them free, which is a direct argument against the enquiry we are paid for. Our stairlifts page points you at a council grant that could cover the whole cost. Our fuel cards page says that for a car fleet using supermarkets, the per-litre saving is often nothing.

We do that because the guidance is worthless otherwise, and because a comparison group that cannot survive being honest about its own categories does not have a business worth protecting.

What we do not do

We do not rank suppliers by what they pay us, because we do not publish supplier rankings or tables at all. We do not take payment to remove unfavourable information from a category page. We do not present a supplier as independently recommended when they are a paying partner.

We do not sell your details to unrelated third parties for their own marketing. Enquiries go to matched suppliers so they can quote you, and each site tells you that before you submit.
